Truckee Fire Pancake Breakfast
Thursday, July 4 from 7am-10am | Truckee Fire Station 92, 11473 Donner Pass Rd, Truckee, CA 96161
Kick off your Independence Day festivities with a delicious pancake breakfast hosted by Truckee Fire! Join us at Station 92 – 11473 Donner Pass Road from 7 – 10 am for a morning of good food and community spirit. Enjoy a free hearty breakfast with the option to donate to the Truckee Firefighters Charitable Fund (TFCF) which provides scholarships to Truckee High School students who pursue fire suppression or emergency medicine.
Firecracker Mile Fun Run
Thursday, July 4 from 9:40-10am | US Bank, 10995 Donner Pass Rd, Truckee, CA 96161
Next is the annual Firecracker Mile from US Bank to Old Town Truckee along the parade route.
This is a family-friendly, kid-friendly, dog-friendly event. Runners are encouraged to wear festive attire and are cheered on by thousands of parade spectators. Go into Tahoe Mountain Sports in the Safeway Center before July 4th, to register in person or you can register online but, don’t wait – the first 500 entrants receive a commemorative water bottle. The Truckee 4th of July Parade starts at 10 a.m., filling our town with patriotic cheer and local pride. Enjoy vibrant floats, marching bands, and lively performers on Donner Pass Road. This year’s “Throwback Thursday” theme takes the parade from Truckee High School to historic downtown Truckee. Don’t miss out on this festive celebration!

Donner Lake Fireworks
If you’re not heading to the West End Beach Celebration, there are plenty of other fantastic spots to catch the fireworks show on the Fourth of July.
Donner Memorial State Park: Enjoy the display from the beaches along the east shore of Donner Lake, facing west towards Donner Summit for fantastic, unobstructed views.
Truckee’s Public Piers: With 37 public piers to choose from, you can find a unique vantage point right on Donner Lake. Limited roadside parking is available along Donner Pass Road, but remember, the docks operate on a first-come, first-served basis and will fill up quickly.
Hiking Trails: The adventurous, experienced hikers can take advantage of the scenic vistas offered by the Donner Lake Rim Trail, Donner Peak, Donner Summit Canyon Trail, Johnson Canyon, and Coldstream Canyon. Plan to find your spot before sunset at 8:31 PM on July 4, 2024, to ensure you’re ready for the show. Don’t forget to bring a headlamp with fresh batteries for the trek back after dark.
